چکیده
Abstract Lignin is the main constituent of lignocellulosic biomasses, which have a significant untapped ability to replace ecologically unfavorable and non-renewable fossil fuels. The lignin broken down by ligninolytic bacteria, also use peripheral pathway transform heterogeneous derivatives into central intermediates like protocatechuate or catechol. By undergoing ring cleavage through -ketoadipate pathway, these become metabolites producing acetyl-CoA for internal product biosynthesis, including creation triacylglycerols polyhydroxyalkanoates. Formaldehyde stabilization facilitates lignin monomer production during biomass depolymerization.
Practical, high-yield lignin depolymerization methods could greatly increase biorefinery productivity and profitability. However, development of these methods is limited by the presence of interunit carbon-carbon bonds within native lignin, and further by formation of such linkages during lignin extraction. We report that adding formaldehyde during biomass pretreatment produces a soluble lignin...

BACKGROUND To expand on the range of products which can be obtained from lignocellulosic biomass, the lignin component should be utilized as feedstock for value-added chemicals such as substituted aromatics, instead of being incinerated for heat and energy. Enzymes could provide an effective means for lignin depolymerization into products of interest. In this study, soil bacteria were isolated ...

متن کاملMulti-step approach to add value to corncob: Production of biomass-degrading enzymes, lignin and fermentable sugars.
This work presents an integrated and multi-step approach for the recovery and/or application of the lignocellulosic fractions from corncob in the production of high value added compounds as xylo-oligosaccharides, enzymes, fermentable sugars, and lignin in terms of biorefinery concept. For that, liquid hot water followed by enzymatic hydrolysis were used. Liquid hot water was performed using dif...
متن کاملUnderstanding Lignin-Degrading Reactions of Ligninolytic Enzymes: Binding Affinity and Interactional Profile
Previous works have demonstrated that ligninolytic enzymes mediated effective degradation of lignin wastes. The degrading ability greatly relied on the interactions of ligninolytic enzymes with lignin. Ligninolytic enzymes mainly contain laccase (Lac), lignin peroxidase (LiP) and manganese peroxidase (MnP). In the present study, the binding modes of lignin to Lac, LiP and MnP were systematicall...
